Welcome To JEGEL's OGRA 2007
Workshop and Trade Show Webpage

JEGEL is proud to participate in the OGRA 2007 Workshop and Trade
Show dedicated to Rehabilitation and Preservation of Good Roads.
Since its inception in 1980, JEGEL has been leaders in all aspects
of pavement and construction materials recycling technology. JEGEL
was one of the first commercial laboratories to develop a mix design
approach for cold mix recycling projects (initially based on the
South African design method, supplemented by JEGEL (John Emery)
extensive experience with recycled asphalt technology). Since then,
JEGEL has continued to develop all aspects of recycled pavement
materials design, construction and testing technology, that includes
substantial in-house research and development. JEGEL was also one of
the first commercial laboratories to obtain a Wirtgen laboratory
asphalt foamer for use in foamed asphalt mix designs. |
|
|
| We have also used our Asphalt Pavement
Analyzer and Nottingham Asphalt Tester equipment to develop granular
base equivalency (GBE) factors for cold recycled materials for the
development of pavement designs using the MTO Simplified Design
Method, and structural coefficients for use with the Association of
American State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) 1993
Guide for the Design of Pavement Structures (and current AASHTO
Mechanistic Design Methodology) that is used by many Canadian
provincial agencies and municipalities. JEGEL has also developed
cold recycling specifications and special provisions for a number of
agencies (Department of National Defence Air Command for instance)
and municipalities (City of Toronto for instance), and been involved
in numerous pavement materials recycling projects across Canada and
internationally (Dominican Republic, Colombia, Chile, China, etc.). |
|
|
|
JEGEL has and continues to be extensively involved in pavement
recycling research, development and technology transfer. John Emery
will be giving a presentation entitled "Practical
Experience with Partial and Full Depth In-place Rehabilitation
Techniques" (please click on link to download a copy of his
presentation) at this year's OGRA Workshop and Trade Show. |
|
|
|
JEGEL is also a recognized leader in the pavement preservation and
asset management technology (John Emery is a member of World Road
Association (PIARC) Technical Committee 4.2 on Road Vehicle
Interaction and leader of Subgroup E on Advanced Road Works
Acceptance - Pavement Performance for Asset Management). Asset
Management begins with implementation of new technologies for
enhanced pavement design, construction, management, preservation and
performance for longer-lasting, lower-maintenance pavements
(long-life pavements) followed by systematic pavement management and
preservation. JEGEL has many years of experience in the development
and deployment of pavement management systems (PMS - City of
Toronto, Toronto Transit Commission, Greater Toronto Transportation
Authority, for instance - for pavement surface condition). JEGEL
also maintains a fleet of high tech field testing equipment for
asset management such as our laser profilometer (smoothness, IRI),
GripTester® (surface friction testing) and high-capacity falling
weight deflectometer (HWD, structural condition). |

JEGEL continues to be extensively involved in asset management
development and technology transfer. John Emery will be giving a
presentation entitled "Surface
Characteristics for Safety and Asset Management" (please click
on link to download a copy of his presentation) at this years OGRA
Workshop and Trade Show. |
